Summary
Responsible for the leadership, coordination, and supervision of the specified unit(s) under their purview. Primary duties include responsibility of day-to-day operations, financial accountability, and upholding quality and safety patient standards. They will have direct oversight, where applicable, of the supervisor, charge nurse, nursing and support staff. The Nurse Manager will plan, direct, and evaluate total nursing care. Practices within the scope prescribed by the Nevada Nurse Practice Act.
Essential Functions
Lead and supervise staff by hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating performance, coaching, and managing workflow to ensure efficient patient care and department operations.
Maintain quality and compliance standards by developing, implementing, and monitoring patient care policies, procedures, safety protocols, infection control practices, and regulatory requirements.
Drive patient satisfaction and issue resolution by analyzing patient feedback, HCAHPS data, complaints, and community input, then addressing concerns and improving service quality.
Support staff development and team performance by coordinating orientation, providing education and mentorship, resolving conflicts, fostering a positive work environment, and leading through organizational change.
Manage departmental operations and resources by overseeing budgets, supplies, equipment maintenance, emergency preparedness, committee participation, and other administrative responsibilities.
Required:
Current and unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) through the Nevada State Board of Nursing
Minimum of 3 years’ experience as an acute care nurse and 2 years in a progressive leadership role or equivocal past experience
Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers
Bachelor’s degree/or currently enrolled in Bachelor’s degree in nursing from college/university
Current American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) for healthcare providers
American Heart Association (AHA) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) for healthcare providers
Must successfully complete National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification within three (3) months of hire or position entry
Must successfully complete Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) within six (6) months of hire or position entry
Must successfully complete/maintain Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification or NRP instructor certification within six (6) months of hire or position entry
Preferred:
Nationally recognized specialty certification related to department or leadership certification
